Prof. John Tyrer is the Managing Director of Laser Optical. John has 25 years of experience in industry and academia and divides his time between LOE and the Wolfson School of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University.

He is a leading specialist in the use of lasers for data capture and imaging and has assisted technically with many significant product developments.
 
John is a recognised national figure and contributes to external groups including, Working Group Member of Pathfinder Metrology; Advisor on laser safety to CEN-TC61 Safety Committee and Working Group Member of Materials and Thermal Group.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the Laser Institute of America and sits on the board of directors of the Laser Institute of America.

John is supported by 3 PhD-level Engineers, 3 PhD researchers, a composite test engineer, a carbon fibre production engineer at Laser Optical and an enthusiastic team of support and development staff.
