Laser Optical Engineering awarded TSB SMART Award for Research and Development |
Laser Optical Engineering [LOE] has been awarded a Technology Strategy Board SMART Award to develop a prototype instrument to detect explosive residue on cargo. The 18 month project started on 1st August 2012. The key aim is to develop, build and test a prototype system for scanning cargo. Thanks to our location and contacts at East Midlands Airport we will be able to carry out the system testing in a live cargo environment. End users have been involved from the project outset to ensure we design a system that meets their requirements. John Tyrer, Managing Director, said:” This is an exciting project which has the potential to revolutionise the way cargo is screened. This project could not have been possible without the award from the TSB and access to the testing environment at East Midlands Airport”.
